Subject: pr/ads, round 2
press packets are generally a lot of bullshit rolled into a nice folder. the
presentation is the key but the personal, one-on-one conversation is the way
to get anything you want done, done. press packets are kind of like resumes
for projects, so you need the stuff you would generally include in a resume.
project's official title(s)
purpose/objective
coordinator/organizer
dates of expected operation
places of expected operation
why are you doing this? a further explanation of the purpose/objective
a way for the necessary people to be contacted
how exactly the project is set up... how you plan on making it successful or
at least workable
don't worry about the wording... i'm sure we'll think of something. the idea
is to give whoever receives these a taste so they'll bite when you actually
talk to them.
if you're talking about taking these to a financial backer or someone whom
you hope to scrounge money off of, the questions change a little, but not
much.
then you have to show fiscal responsibility
who's gonna manage the financial part of it
what happens if you run out of money
where is other money coming from
financial figures to run the entire operation
who's gonna take care of tax stuff, accounting stuff, etc. *
basically, in order to write a decent press packet you have to have gelled
together enough information and committment to make it sound feasible. that
doesn't mean all the kinks have to be worked out, but you have to at least eb
able to anticipate questions and concerns and address them without
contradciting each other or something you might have said previously...
sorry for the typos...
love,
abby
